It's snowing today. Thought you all should know.

Well spring in Alaska is well under way. The snows are melting giving way to a brown mucky mess below. The pot holes in the roads are worse this year than I could have even imagined. The weather is warming up enough that it is feasible to go out in a hoodie rather than a winter jacket. The sun seems to be shining more than I've ever seen it shine. (though maybe that is just because it is now actually warm enough to enjoy it.) Our summers are short and I'm really eager to get out and enjoy the weather while it is nice enough to enjoy it. I want to collect my motorcycle from its winter storage. I want to go biking, hiking, taking pictures. But

It's a bit late, I suppose, but I'm writing one now anyway.   So. A long time ago, on a trip to Washington D.C. and North Dakota, my Nikon D50 fell out of the back of a vehicle when the back door was opened and subsequently, it died. Having no money to replace it, the poor thing got set aside so that one day I could mail it off to Nikon and see if they could repair it. Years later, it still hadn't been either fixed or replaced and I was starting to despair that I would never own another working DSLR again.
